Office 2007 formats and Sharepoint Services 2.0

I got an email from a user and I wanted to confirm whether this was true or not:

"I've heard some rumors that the new file formats in Office 2007 may not be compatible with some versions of SharePoint.

Since we use SharePoint Services 2.0 extensively, can you check to see if we'll still be ok using SharePoint with our 2007 documents?"

If anyone knows the answer to this, I would greatly appreciate it!
