office 2003 mail merge with pdf attachment

Hi All,
I have a friend with a business who is trying to send out a mail merge to clients with a mail merge with a pdf file (newsletter). Embedding it to a mail is of no use as there is a lot of text which gets distorted. I know that you can send a hyperlink instead to document on a server but just wondered if it is possible to do so.
