Hello,

Office 2003 Pro is installed. Yesterday I installed Office 2007, selecting the option to install both versions except Outlook, which was upgraded to 07.

Now whenever starting Word 2K3 an msi dialog (please wait while Word is installed).

I don't *think* I made wrong selections; heck, I even chose a different Office directory the second time around and still have the same result. Eventually Word 2K3 starts, but not without the install CD in the drive ...

Its rather maddening, and I sure would like a solution ...

thanks,

See this article particularly the sections about Multiple versions of Word and Windows Installer messages in Word. I have the same issue but I don't need the install CD each time. There's just the maddening delay in opening Word when I switch from 2003 to 2007 or vice versa.

Cheers.

Very helpful, your article link. Thanks! A star to you for that -- and knowing that the installer behavior is "by design" when dealing with multiple versions of Word locally installed is extremely helpful, but also just what I would expect from MS ...

I'm glad that I could help, even if it wasn't the answer that you were looking for.
