How would I change the registration name for Office 2000 in
regedit?

You'll have to reinstall. This info is stored in binary format in the registry.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

I tried re-installing Office but the orginal name still will
not change,do you know where in the registry I can edit the
registration name?

Open regedit and do a search for the existing name. You'll find it in several places but for WORD, it should be at HKEY_CURRENT_USER->SOFTWARE->MICROSOFT->MS SETUP (ACME)->USER INFO. (That's where it's at on my XP Pro machine.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

I have corrected the first name throughout the registry and
I have uninstalled and re-installed Office 2000 with the correct first name and still when I open any of the office
programs the incorrect first name still appears.
