I had to reload Windows 98 SE on an eMachine with Office 2000 installed on it. The eMachine Windows reload replaces files in the Windows folder so that it is the same as when it was purchased and reinstalls Windows with a new registry without referencing the software that was installed prior to the reload. When I try to install Office 2000, it always stops after the typical or custom install screen. The system does not hang up at all--it just returns to the desktop and closes the setup program. There must be a setting somewhere that prevents the setup from continuing from this screen. Does anyone have any idea as to what I can do to correct this problem?
