Awhile ago I installed MS Office 2000 on my Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop. Subsequently everytime I opened an Office program I would get the same message
dialog box, "preparing to install". I understand this message is only supposed to come up after the first time I try running one of the Office programs. I have
since done a "Repair" and "Uninstall/reinstall" with no relief. Others in my office with the same equipemnt aren't having this problem. What can be causing this message to come up everytime I start an Office program? What's the fix?

Thanks!

It comes up too if you've got Office 97 apps still installed and run them in between running 2K apps...

No Office 97 apps on the machine. In fact, I've gone as far as wiping the hard drives and starting from reinstalling the Windows 2000 Pro O.S., then my apps. Still the same problem. :-(

Hi there

I too have the same problem, not much help I know! :) However I have just had a thought which is this; did you install a OEM version or an upgrade version on to your system? My version is an upgrade version and I forgot to install Office 97 prior to installing the upgrade. Could it be that this is what happens when you don't load up the full version!

Give it a try and let me know.

Sounds like your choosing a typical install. I choose custom, double-click and tell it I want EVERYTHING to run from my computer, not that "on first use" or any other option...

As I said above, I too had the same problem. On my own advice to you I cleared Office 2000 off my system. Then I ran EasyClean, just to get rid of any leftover bits. Finally, I reinstalled Office 2000 and guess what? Yip, everything works as advertised, which must be a first for MS :)

I hope this is what you wanted to hear.
