Office 2000 Error

I have Office 2000 installed on a Windows XP machine. It just started that when I open an Office application (Word, Excel, Outlook) it looks like it's going to open then a Microsoft Error comes on: "This application must be installed to run. Please run Setup from the location where you originally installed the application." I've read several things on the Internet, and have uninstalled and reinstalled 2 - 3 times but still no luck. Does anyone know how to fix this error?

No I didn't. What I did do was to create a new user on our domain and login to this computer as that user. That seemed to work.
