Hi,

If I understand what I've read at several forums, in general Office 2000 is more or less compatible with Vista, but Outlook 2000 can be a problem. First of all, do you agree with that assessment?

I've seen more recent versions of Outlook (e.g., 2003, etc.) for sale without having to buy the whole Office suite, and at a considerably lower price than the whole suite.

I was wondering if on Vista anyone has tried installing Office 2000 and then installing Outlook 2003 or later. If so, how well has it worked? I'm very happy with my Office 2000 and would like to continue to use it instead of having to fork out $200+ for Office 2003, or more $$ for a later version.

Or are there workarounds to get Outlook 2000 to work with Vista?

Thanks!
Bill

What you have heard is correct. For most users, Outlook 2000 in Vista has been OK, but there are still a considerable number of users having niggling problems. You certainly can install Office 2000 and then install Outlook 2003 and they will work in reasonable harmony. You do lose some features such as Mail Merge and using Word as your email editor, etc.

However, take a look around and you may find that you can pick up Office 20003 Students and Teachers for a bargain price. As long as you don't use it for business (and who will find out), it is totally legal.
