Hi,

If I understand what I've read at several forums, in general Office 2000 is more or less compatible with Vista, but Outlook 2000 can be a problem. First of all, do you agree with that assessment?

I've seen more recent versions of Outlook (e.g., 2003, etc.) for sale without having to buy the whole Office suite, and at a considerably lower price than the whole suite.

I was wondering if anyone has tried installing Office 2000 and then installing Outlook 2003 or later on Vista. If so, how well has it worked? I'm very happy with my Office 2000 and would like to continue to use it without having to fork out $200+ for Office 2003, or more for a later version.

Or are there workarounds to get Outlook 2000 to work with Vista?

Thanks!
Bill

I know for a fact that Office 2003 works well under vista (I have Off2K3 loaded on both a Vista Home Premimum and Ultimate machines).

And so far Outlook express hasn't had any problems.

I can also vouch that Office 2003 and Vista get along with no problems.

And so far Outlook express hasn't had any problems.

Outlook Express is not available for Vista; it actually came with the OS (Windows 2000, XP, etc) and has been replaced (renamed) with Windows Mail in Vista.

It might be useful to look at thread117-1483401 as well.

There is a brief discussion there on restoring certain HTML editing functions in older Visual Studio and Office products.

I found that most of Office 2003 worked fine without this "tweak" but it has repaired several problems I was experiencing.

I have Outlook 2003 running on my Vista Ult. never had 1 problem.

I recommend updating the whole suite to Office 2003. You can pick it up for bargain prices if you look around. The Office 2003 Students and Teachers version is great value and it is better to keep the same versions of Outlook and Word as you lose all the interoperability using different versions.
