Offhook ringer volume is too low - SV9500 and DT700

I started getting user complaints that the off-hok ringer volume is too low. I tested and it's true. When the ringer volume is normal, the off-hook ring is too low. I have to turn up the ring volume of the main line super high, to get some audible volume of the off-hook ringer. It is that the volume gap between the main line ringer and the off-hook ring is too much.

I've managed this system for over a decade and never anyone complained about it. I don't know if this was always like this, or something changed with various system updates (this system started out as an SV8500). I still have an old Dterm Series E phone on my desk on a 2400ICS and the volume gap is much less, and when the main ringer is set to a comfortable level, the off-hook ringer is still audible.

I don't find a way to adjust off-hook ring level independent of the ring-level of the main line. And the whole time, I have had the idea that you can't just adjust the off-hook ring level without changing the main line ring level. Is that correct?

As it is, off-hook ring is currently useless on this system.

Anyone ran into this? Anyone knows of a way to adjust the off-hook ringer volume wihout having to crank up the ring volume of the main line too high?

Off Hook ring volume used to always be a fraction of the On Hook ring volume and it was adjusted by the On Hook ring volume. Are these IP phones?

Yes, these are IP phones. Yes, you are correct, offhook ring used to be a fraction of the on-hook ring. But now it's such a small fraction that it's unusable

Have you looked into all of the individual IPP options? I know there is a log in for each phone with more options than the digital phones.

By "IPP Options", I assume you mean the admin menu and all its options for the phones? Yes, I went through that. I've done a pdf searach of the Command Manual, Data Programming Manual and the Peripherial Equipment Description manual for phrases "off hook ring" and many of its variations. Found nothing. Unless it's some ASYD option...

Not sure if this will do anything for you but try ASFC SFI 263, this is for ring volume in headset mode to keep volume instead of lowering it, phone needs to be reset after making the change in ASFC.

The SFI 263 didn't solve the problem. I'm working on this with my vendor. So far I received a statement that OHR is set to be 20dB quieter than the main ringer on all NEC phones, and that it can't be changed and the phones are working as intended.

Then I recorded and sent them a video with an old Dterm Series E and a new DT900 side by side, showing a usable Off-hook-ring volumne level on the old phone, and an unusably low level (can't hear at all) on the new phone (other volume settings being equal). Let's see what can they do with this.

It was tested by some engineer in a lab environment with a volume level meter, and "it's working as designed, with the off-hoook rigner being 20dB lower than the main reinger". Issue is closed.

Disappointing as in real life you can't hear the off-hook ringer unless the main ringer is cranked up way too high to be comfortable.
