I just a newbie Netbackup user. We are using Netbackup 4.5 DC and I have a problem with storage of tapes. According to the Netbackup manual I am suppposed to be able to remove tapes for storage, such as off site storage, by moving the volumes to a standalone group. Problem is when I try to move the volume I get a 97 err stating that the volume is still active. I don't want to delete the volume or erase the tape. Any suggestions.

Thank you.

Moving your tapes to offsite storage would require the use of the vault product or a script.

Is there any way I can get a script that can do this or would it be simpler to just get the vault product. I am trying to keep costs to a minimum.

Again Thank you.

Also as far as scripting goes. Our servers are Windows 2000 Advanced severs with SP3.

Not sure if this is standard operating procedure, but the tapes we take off-site we just leave them in their original pool. It's not been a problem, just that the list of tapes in the pool is getting larger. No cost involved.

Thank you for all the help. Keeping the same pool isgoing to have to work. It I'll just have to come up with good bar coding for the volumes.

I'd recommend using bpvault itself as it provides various features and you get the reliable support from Veritas.

Sekhar.
