Off-site Note. Non-Standard for Cell Phones

We have been using for years off-site to pagers and now everything is going to Cell Phones. Pagers had a couple of standard connecting tones. Cell Phones are anything but standard. Other then getting UM and sending a message Not. by e-mail that the person has a voicemail what are people doing for this.

depends on the voice mail system, the nortel here and rolms i've played with will do a off net notify to a celll.. what type of vm are you using

So it goes to a cell phone. The VM wants to hear the sound of a voice then they play a greeting. I am talking about this voice from the cell phone. It can be a recording that the person is not in the area and if so it will not show a missed call on the cell phone.
You get busies with the cell phone without being busy. What I am talking about it the world of cell phone compare to Land Lines and Pagers.

What we generally do is have the voicemail send an email note to the cell phone (most cell phones have email as standard) - with "you have a voicemail message" text.

What did you do before this? That is great for new systems.

my cell phone provider answers with the number xxxxx can not be reached? which is about half the time.. that is more then likely a function of the cell phones voice mail (centigram) which i never liked.. if i get a busy on a remote notification attempt i have the system programed to retry 10 time with a 5 minute wait between calls..

all the params depend on the system and the cell network.. of course no two are alike.. pagers are a problem of there own, i can send a page 50 times unless the person calls back in, but doctors in surgery don't like that, and they hate not getting the msg almost as bad.. the mail has zero way of knowing if a page goes through

try a cellular gateway. I think Aleen's preoduct can do text messaging.
