Hi all
On an LPARd p650 I daisy chained an OEM DVD drive to a 3580 LTO tape drive. The DVD drive is in an available state as a Other SCSI CD-ROM Drive. When mounting a cdrfs I get
mount: /dev/cd0 on /cdrom: Device not ready
Eveything else seems ok, no errors.
I tried starting the cdromd but that just kept flashing the light on the drive.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

What's the output of the following?

lsdev -C | grep cd

a flashing light may indicate that the drive needs attention or something! I hope it is not faulty!

Regards,
Khalid

Thanks Khalid
Here is the output of lsdev -C | grep cd:
cd0 Available 2a-08-00-5,0 Other SCSI CD-ROM Drive
Regarding the flashing light: It starts when I start the cdromd and stops flashing when the cdromd is stopped. While the light is flashing the drive will not eject.
I'm leaning toward either incompatable firmware or missing fileset(s). What do you think?

Try the following mount command and see what happens. I installed an external DVDRW and this was the only one that worked for me.

mount -r -v'cdrfs' /dev/cd0 /cdrom
