I have OEM working where I connect to a Oracle 9i database.

I now want to connect to another database. I did put the new database in my tnsnames.ora file. In OEM I tried to start a new connection to another database (Oracle 8i on another host) where I right clicked on database toggle and selected "New Database".
It then shows me the login screen and the correct sid is selected.

I then attempted to log in and it gave me the message:

"This application requires more database privileges than you have currently been granted. Click on help to get more version specific information."

I can connect to the other database using SQL Developer and SQL Plus but can not connect using Oracle Enterprise Manager due to above message.

Please advise.

You may need to grant privileges equivalent to 9i 'SELECT ANY DICTIONARY' to the user account you are trying to connect with.

I assume I log in to the Oracle 8i database using SQL Developer and then what command do I use to give me those privileges?

You need to login through OEM (NOT SQL Developer) to the database using the 'SYSTEM', 'SYS' or some other account with DBA role.

Then you find the 'Security' tab and grant the privileges to the other account you want to use.

I dont have sys or system or another account and only have my one login account. I assume I have to get a DBA to to this for me?

Yes.
