I am currently using Oracle 9i OEM client for my Oracle 9i database.
Now I will be using Oracle 10g. I have a choice between 2 cds. One is Oracle Client and the other is OEM grid control. What is the difference because the 2 cds?

1) Oracle 10g client contains the stand-alone desktop Enterprise Manager (similar to 9i but limited functionality)

2) Grid Control will manage multiple servers/databases and requires: a) Oracle management server installed, b) a repository (db) and c) intelligent agents deployed.

3) Each 10g db has a web-base EM console which functionality is limited to that particular instance.

Thanks,

Not sure what management server and intelligent agents does but I only need to create objects and do CRUD on tables in my local development 10g instance and on the production server 10g instance.
What would be the web-base url for my client EM console? I couldnt find it.

Try these command(s):

%ORACLE_HOME%/bin/emctl status dbconsole
%ORACLE_HOME%/bin/emctl start dbconsole

If you receive an error then you may need to configure the dbconsole with the emca utility. It will display the URL's at the end.
