I refuse to give up with this one! I am running Windows ME, with OE5 as my default mail program.Prior to installing Office 2000Ped, I went via Windows Exp to my computer, drive C,windows, application data, Microsoft, address book and was able to copy to floppy the default version of address book, which was the same as the version in OE5.
I then installed Office 2000Ped, at which point Outlook 2000 took over as my default mail program. I immediately changed back to OE5 via Internet Options, program tab.
When I then opened my address book in OE5 it was blank, so I then Imported my default address book from the file stated above back into OE5, which worked a treat.
Since then however I have added various addresses to my OE5 address book, which have not updated default version, it is as it was, when I first imported as above.
This was really starting to annoy me, so I searched to see were my updated address book is and found it is Start/Programs/Accessories and then address book, but I cannot copy this as it just opens as address book.
I got a little workshop which showed me how to Export my address book, via a Text file. When I got to the box that said save exp file as, I called it My address book and pressed next, which according to the workshop, would save it to default folder. If it did it is not the one above, as the default version is still not updated.
Can anyone tell me why my address book is not saving to default file?

Happens often, here's what I've gathered:

Before making the big change..........
To Print Address Book Information
In the Address Book, select the contact(s) you want to print.
To select a block of names, press and hold down the SHIFT key while you click the names.

To select individual names, press and hold down the CTRL key while you click the names.

Click the Print button on the toolbar, and then select a printing format:

To print all address book information about the contact(s), click Memo.

To print business-related information about the contact(s), click Business Card.

To print a list of phone numbers for the selected contact(s), click Phone List.

missing WAB.dll file
-or-
An error occurred while attempting to open the WAB. Unable to find the WAB.DLL.
-or-
Windows Address Book DLL missing.

CAUSE
The file Wab32.dll is missing or damaged.

RESOLUTION
Reinstall Microsoft Outlook Express in order to update the referenced Windows Address Book file.

MORE INFORMATION
If Wab32.dll is on your computer, rename it, and then reinstall Outlook Express.

Rename Wab32.dll
Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files Or Folders.

Type Wab32.dll in the Named box, and then click Find Now.

With the right mouse button, click Wab32.dll, and on the shortcut menu, click Rename. Type Wab32.old, and press ENTER.

IMPORTANT: The following sections outline specific steps for resolving this issue based on the type of operating system and version of Internet Explorer you currently have installed. It is imperative that these steps be followed as defined.

Reinstalling Outlook Express Using Windows 95
You can replace the damaged or missing Wab32.dll file by running Setup for Microsoft Internet Explorer. To replace the file, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
Click to select Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0. Click Add/Remove.
Click to select "Add a component to Internet Explorer", and click OK.
Click Yes, when prompted "Active setup is about to determine what internet components are installed on your computer."

Under Communication Components, click to select to Outlook Express, even if it appears it is already installed. Click Next.
Click Install Now to start the download and install process.
On Install Complete, click OK.

Reinstalling Outlook Express Using the Original Release of Windows 98

Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

Double-click Add/Remove Programs icon.
Click the Windows Setup tab. In Components, click to remove the check mark next to Microsoft Outlook Express and click Apply.

After Outlook Express is removed, add the check mark back to Outlook Express and click Apply again. This will reinstall Outlook Express.

IMPORTANT: If you have installed Internet Explorer 5.0 with the original release of Windows 98, you should not replace Outlook Express using the entry on the Windows Setup tab as described in step #3 above. This action attempts to install Outlook Express 4.0 which would be the incorrect version. In this instance, use the entry, "Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools" on the Install/Uninstall tab of Add Remove Programs.
Reinstalling Outlook Express Using Windows 98 Second Edition
Windows 98 SE includes Internet Explorer 5.0 and its related components, including Outlook Express 5.0. These components can be maintained by first using the preparatory steps in the Rename Wab32.dll section and then following the steps as with the original release of Windows 98.

Import:
Eudora Pro or Light Address Book (through v3.0)

LDIF - LDAP Data Interchange Format
Microsoft Exchange Personal Address Book
Microsoft Internet Mail for Windows 3.1 Address Book
Netscape Address Book (v2 or v3)
Netscape Communicator Address Book (v4)
Text File (comma Separated Values)
Business Card (vCard)

For additional information about importing and exporting address books in Outlook Express, please see Address Book Help.

NOTE: If Outlook Express does not support the format used by your other address book program, you may find a common format. For example, Outlook 2000 will import and export a comma separated text file and so will Outlook Express. You can use the Outlook Express format "Text File (comma Separated Values)" in this example as a file format that is common to both programs. This format is a plain text file, such as a Notepad file, that contains your address data using commas as a delimiter between data fields.

OLEXP: Windows Address Book May Be Blank After Exporting Or Upgrading

------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft Outlook Express versions 5, 5.01, 5.5 for Windows 95
Microsoft Outlook Express versions 5, 5.01, 5.5 for Windows 98
Microsoft Outlook Express versions 5, 5.01, 5.5 for Windows 98 Second Edition
Microsoft Outlook Express versions 5, 5.01, 5.5 for Windows NT 4.0
Microsoft Outlook Express versions 5.01, 5.5 for Windows 2000

------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
When you open the Microsoft Windows Address Book, the addresses may not be displayed and the Windows Address Book may appear blank.

CAUSE
This problem may occur under any of the following circumstances:

After you upgrade Outlook Express to Outlook Express 5.
After you export the addresses from within an existing Windows Address Book to a new Windows Address Book.
When you open the default Windows Address Book file (*.wab) from within Windows Explorer.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem:

Open the Windows Address Book.
On the View menu, click Folders and Groups.
Click the appropriate identities folder to display the addresses.

MORE INFORMATION
Versions of Outlook Express later than Outlook Express 5 store all of the addresses for local identities within one Windows Address Book file. The address book shows these addresses within separate folders, and each folder is labeled with the name of its particular identity. The default view settings for the Windows Address Book display only the shared Contacts folder instead of the separate identity folders that contain the information.
