OE substitute items? We only fill quantities to ship when the inventory is available. If the quantity to ship is 0, if no stock is available the system does not offer substitute items information. If we force the quantity to ship, then the system takes us thru about three different screens to get to the substitute items on order, is this correct? Is there an easier way?

That's correct.

If you leave the qty to ship as 0, it's backordering the item in which case you wouldn't need a substitute. If you force the qty to ship, it will let you know there are substitute items available and you then have to choose one of them. One of my clients could substitute multiple items for the same one depending on the stocking levels. Though I'm sure some people would like an order of preference so it would choose the first item if there was enough stock and then the next item and so on.
