We use Progression OE ICR reprint posted invoices, create a pdf and then email it to the customer.

I thought we could select MicrosoftMail instead of DiskFile. But it will only use Outlook (we use Thunderbird). So I sent up a new email account with gmail (we have google apps) and I went to gmail and did Google Apps Sync for Outlook.

It still would not work…it exported, but did not send an email and I don’t see it saved in a draft.

So when the CS clerk went in to do it manually again to save as a pdf she got error “The program cannot start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix it”.

So I shut down the computer and restarted and that error went away.....and even though we select diskfile, it still wanted to open up and send an email and I got a box that says “Microsoft Outlook. A program is trying to access e-mail address information stored in outlook. It this is unexpected, click Deny and verify your antivirus software is up to date. “ I deny, but still cannot get it to print pdf and save to file.

Macola support told me to reset the ICR print...but that button is greyed out. They did not know what else to do and have referred it to someone with Crystal experience....I am still waiting.

In the meantime, I have uninstalled the Google Sync app. ICR report still tried to open outlook, so I went into the control panel, mail and deleted the profile. ICR report no longer sees the profile, but it wants one anyway. I feel there is somewhere in the registry or a macola setup file where I just need to turn this feature off....so far I have been unable to find it.

I found something that said to go to the registry to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsofg\windows nt\currentversion\windows messaging subsystem\profiles and delete. But Windows Messaging Subsystem does not exist for this user.

THANKS

I do not know anyone who is emailing documents from Progression unless they are using a 3rd party application. Please check out Visual Cut by Millet Software. It is very affordable. In addition to sending forms as emails, it'll pretty much do anything that Event Manager will do in terms of Scheduled Crystal Reports, for a fraction of the price.

Thanks Don....do you know where Macola stores what tells the ICR program to look for an Outlook profile? It will not let me print to pdf anylonger...just wants to open outlook.

Another piece to the puzzle.....

In other machines all the fields are blank and the export box is checked. On this problem computer

format is pdf
destination is MAPI
export file is OEINVFRMSQL.rpt.pdf

I tried manually checking the export box, changing the defaults...NO LUCK

There has to be somewhere the program has changed a default to look at the destination as MAPI instead of just blank so we can choose pdf, word, execl, other export options.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure this is not a Macola thing. I think you are barking up the wrong tree. I've been doing this for 19 years and never once seen anyone send emails from Progression without 3rd party software. Even if your approach works, it would generate 1 email, with every single invoice for that run on it as an attachment. I don't think you want this.

What does Exact say?

In case anyone else runs into this.....do not even attempt to use this function if you are using GMAIL. The app does work, and causes Outlook to open, but Exact does not recognize it and the ICR reports get stuck in a loop that makes your ICR reports non-functional. This is what I had to do in order to enable Crystal ICR to again export as a pdf . We went to Mail and deleted the profile, then went to the registry and delete references in HKey_Local_Machine in Software, Microsoft, Outlook and also in Software, Crystal. STILL the ICR report was looking for an Outlook profile. So then we uninstalled Outlook (actually because we were using office 2013, had to uninstall the entire office program, it does not allow you to select pieces anymore). At that point, ICR no longer "saw" the need for an outlook profile and we were back to normal. Of course I had to reinstall Office. If you just use Outlook, per Exact, it should work. They have requested an enhancement to work with gmail. Thanks for the comments.
