OE Not Keeping Password

On my old machine, OE would keep the password I put in the account information and use it when I went to my mail at my ISP. I had a problem with the old machine motherboard/disk drive and I got another (used) machine and now OE loses the password. When I attempt to connect to get mail it comes up asking for the password. It takes it and connects but I must do it every time. (I keep putting it back in the account information and the next time I look it's not there)

What could be wrong with this machine's OE? Both the old and new machine were/are Windows 2K.

are you checking the box that says "Keep Password Saved" that is at the bottom of the window where you log in?
