OE mail with attachments extremely slow on "send"

Hello,
For the past few weeks, any e-mails or newsletters with attachments are VERY slow. An e-mail with a 30ko .jpg file can take up to ten minutes to be sent...
I tried de-activating Norton and AVG just in case, but it doesn't make a difference.
Thanks very much for your help.
