Anyone know where I can find some information on PBX down time? We are doing disaster recovery over here and they want a statistic....suggestions? 1 in Never? Anything offical would help!
Thanks

the problem is the number of variables in your question.

Power outage.... You would have to look at your local supply. This is then complicated by is it covered by backup batteries and how long they would last against how long the power might be off. Is there a UPS which would add to the time it would stay up.

Overvoltage.... How clean is your supply. How susceptible is your area to electrical storms. How good is the Earth mat in your area. Are you on fibre optic links or copper. How good is your Lightning protection.

General failure.... affected by the quality of all that went before as a general failure is usually a build up of trips to the edge.

As an indicator The company I last worked for (National carrier) instigated an inventory control programme and as a result sold for scrap the fully enabled CPUs we kept in stock as critical spares on the grounds they were used too infrequently to justify stocking. You can imagine what hit the fan the first time we needed one.
