odd new variation of the IE "peekaboo" bug

Good news is, no text or anything important is covered up.

Bad news is, the border on the side is covered up.

Take a look at a sample page on IE:
As you can see, parts of the left and right border are simply missing in place of either the text that appears in id="main" (floated) or id="rtNav" (also floated).

I've tried a variety of fixes, including overflow: visible/hidden in a variety of places, along with position: relative fix... and variations of the two in a variety of places... to no avail.

the page didn't come up, but this has nothing to do with box model anything...

It's not padding that's messed up
 
I've not tried this in IE (too much hassle), but it didn't mess things up in Firefox, so may work: remove the "float:right" from your "#rightCol" styles.
