I'm getting some odd multipathing errors in our Solaris 10 servers and can't seem to find an answer. Anybody know why this is happening, about every 4-5 minutes? A typical log entry:

May 10 16:25:15 server4 in.mpathd[146]: [ID 585766 daemon.error] Cannot meet requested failure detection time of 10000 ms on (inet nge0) new failure detection time for group "bond0" is 28042 ms
May 10 16:26:23 server4 in.mpathd[146]: [ID 302819 daemon.error] Improved failure detection time 14021 ms on (inet nge0) for group "bond0"
May 10 16:29:41 server4 in.mpathd[146]: [ID 302819 daemon.error] Improved failure detection time 10000 ms on (inet nge0) for group "bond0"

I'm not sure under what circumstances in.mpathd increases the failure detection time, possibly in times of heavy server load. However you can permanently increase to try and reduce the frequency of these error messages by modifying the value in /etc/default/mpathd. See man in.mpathd for details.

Obviously this will mean that it will take longer for the in.mpathd to notice when there has been a genuine NIC or network failure on one of the multipathed links.
