Got a weird issue with cmd.exe. It works well until I use telnet. As soon as I telnet into a local box it shows the password used to gain access instead of ***** and with every character typed it displays two.

Example:
If I wanted to type: "show ip route"
it will display "sshhooww iipp rroouuttee"

Any ideas you might have would be appreciated.

After pondering the issue some more, I believe the problem is more related to telnet.exe and not cmd.exe as I previously stated. I tried gaining access to the local node via telnet.exe and noticed the problem still persists.

Again, any ideas would be appreciated.

From what you are describing it seems like echo is on when in telnet (Useful when you telnet to SMTP server) and the device you are telneting into already echos what you type hence the double characters.

Try this:

Go to the command prompt
Type "telnet" and press enter
type "unset localecho"

If you ever need to turn it back on, type "set localecho"
while in telnet

Telnet to your device (Use the open command while still in telnet) ie open 192.168.1.1

Hope this helps,
