Odd Characters....

I recently moved a website and in doing so I used phpMyAdmin to export my DB. Unfortunately, when I exported it, it converted a bunch of characters into nonsense....

Here is an example:


I don't have access to the original DB any more, but I was wondering if there is something I can do to fix this in the new DB?
 
It appears to have converted apostrophies and exclamation marks to a group of chars.
Are these chars. in the table itself or are they being converted when the html is created?
Could be a problem with the character set.

I'll take a guess. You edited the text in Microsoft Word and left smart quotes on. Is that possible? If so they can get translated incorrectly when shown in html documents. Have a look at the database itself and see what is actually stored in there.
