odd behaviour on pix 525

We have a backend firewall(Cisco PIX 525) that works great, except for that telnet and ftp hang for ~80 seconds before they respond. Once it responds, everything works fine. Also smtp, imap and http all respond instantly, wondering if anyone else has seen any kind of behavior like this before or if anyone has any idea which might be causing it.
