Hi yo can do it from odbc data source administrator -->system DSN ---> ADD ---->SELECT the drive to be "Client Access ODBC Driver... and you carry on defing the system data source. and you go to access for example and link or import the as400 file in a database file later you acces this database from VB.
There is a toolkit supplied with the client access express program. Get with whoever (your admin etc) and have them install that. it works great for me, updates, deletes, seeks on logical files etc...
