Hi!

I have created a system DSN to connect to a text file via ODBC. I have set up the file parameters correctly, and could retrieve data through both Access and Crystal Reports a couple of days ago. However, now when i try and connect to the file through Access (via ODBC) i get the following error message:
"[Microsoft][ODBC Text Driver]Optional feature not implemented (#106)".
Connecting through Crystal Reports will not work either.

I am on an NT4 SP5 machine, with office 97 and MDAC2.6 loaded.

Could someone please enlighten me as to what the problem may be and how to resolve it.

Thanks

If this text file contains datetime fields:
1) I would first check the "DateTimeFormat" of the schema.ini to make sure it is defined for the source.
2) I hope the text file is not too long: I will check through each date field to make sure they match the date_format as in the schema.ini and there is no extra space in there.
3) Depending on who the textfile ODBC vendor is, sometimes the driver does not like a single digit for a month/date field.

Good luck!
Regards, Nancy
