We use a recurring-billing program called The Billing Clerk from Dilloware.

Recently, I attempted to open the program and I received this error:

Windows has caused error 3358 to occur
The Microsoft Windows description for this error is:
ODBC remote query timeout. Can't open Microsoft Access system.
This error occurred in: Billing.Activate

We run another copy of the program on a different networked computer and that computer can open the files on the troubled computer's hard disk.

Really weird. Anyone kind enough to offer suggestions, please?

Ok, I bit the bullet and paid the $300 annual support renewal. But, I figured I would go ahead and post the fix.

1st, cause this error to occur on your screen by attempting to open the program. Then locate the file "seqcheck.log" in your windows directory.

Open it and start a new line at the bottom and type in (all lowercase) "reinitialize beta sequence". Save and exit the file.

Then press "retry" on your Billing Clerk error screen, But DO NOT attempt to use your file until you reboot the computer.

There ya' go. All better. If you have any dilloware Billing Clerk soulutions or problems, email me and maybe we can exchange notes when our support plans run out!

I tried your method and when I got to the part where I was to click on "Retry" it still came back with the same error. Is there a step missing??? Do you still have this problem??? Please help.

Hi,
Did you ever get error 3358 fixed? I have same problem.
They told me to edit seqcheck.log file in windows directory and type "reassign sequence" (no quotes) after last line and save it. It worked first time but not now.
