is it possible to link a AS400 database via an ODBC Link?

i'm using now the dtf file te retrive the data from the datbase in csv or excel...

Then i rework the data

id like to shortcut these step with an odbc link ....

Can you help me?

Well it would be possible, it depends on the circumstances, and what you are using the link for. I believe that there is a built in ODBC thru client access,, and I have seen commmenst about going directly from excel. Is this an as needed link, or all the time link?

you can connect to the as400 via odbc if you have client access installed on your pc. if you did not install odbc when you did the initial install, use the selective install to add it.
in excel, click on tools, add-in manager and select odbd add-in

to transfer data, click on data, get external data, create query

of course can create macros and scripts to automate the procedure.

hi,

Yes i can link an odbc database in access i see.

But my problem is to create the odbc link to AS400

i open the odbc administrator then i'm lost...

this will be a permanent link to the database to automate the query using Cognos tools.
