Hi,

I'm trying to connect a As400 Database to the catalog of improptu administration.

Can you describe the main steps?

Jack,

I'm presuming that your database on the AS400 is an IBM DB2(?), of which I havent used for some time, but in principal, the steps would be as follows:

1 [blue]Configure Database in Impromptu...[/blue]
1.2 Select Catalog->Database
1.3 Select DB2
1.4 Click New Database
1.5 Type in a friendly name for your database eg. AppDB
1.6 Fill in all other parameters
1.7 Click Ok
------------------------------------
2 [blue]To Create Catalog...[/blue]
2.1 Click Catalog->New
2.2 type filename for your catalog
2.3 select your friendly database name from the list
2.4 Click Ok
** You may/maynot be prompted for your username/password here
2.5 Enter your details and click Ok
** You may/maynot recieve a box about retrieving database objects
2.6 Click retrieve
2.7 Select tables you want and click Add
2.8 Once you have all the tables you want, Click Ok

From here, you simply setup your table joins, click Ok a few times and your ready to build a report.

There's alot more and better information about building catalogs (if thats what you want to do) in the [blue]impadmin.pdf[/blue] file.
