I'm new to Pagemaker (7) and will have to use it to create a year report.

There is an immense amount of data I have to import (from different tables in a database) so generating .txt's is out of the question.

The helpfile to PM talks about the ODBC filter or plugin, which should be in my Plugins menu, but isn't.

Have I made a mistake in the install or do I have to get the filter somewhere else?

You might have to reinstall PM, paying close attention to options. You may have chosen custom install when it was initially installed, and neglected to select the ODBC plugin.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Ok, so I will uninstall (because I've re-installed it over and over again), reinstall custom and select the filter..

Tomorrow I'll have the anwer..

When installing, when you come to the menu with options to install, make sure you scroll... it is easy to not scroll and miss items.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

I'll check when I get home later, but I'm pretty sure installing the ODBC filters is a separate item on the CD-ROM Menu, not the PM Setup Menu.

John, thanks. I have never used ODBC filters, never had need. All I remembered is that they are part of PM, not a separate download or anything like that!

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Hi, Carl,

Yes, the ODBC Drivers are installed from the CD-ROM Autoplay Menu.

I've never used them with PM but they baled me out once when I was converting a Lotus Aprroach DB to MS Access.

The drivers are not the same thing as the plugin/filter.

Im running win2k so the ODBC drivers are already there.

Thanks Viol8ion, the scrolling helped (how stupid is that..)
