I've installed Crystal Rep Prof.(8.5) on my desktop and used ODBC admin to create a Remedy ODBC data source. When I bring up one of our existing rpts into Crystal I get a message "database file has changed - proceeding to update report". I can then refresh the report but when I put it into a folder thru Crystal Mgt. Console and run it there I get "The Page Server you are trying to connect to is not accessible. Please contact your system administrator. [On Page Server: USWND-S-RMDY001.cacheserver]" or "ODBC error: Cannot open Catalogu, message # 329 / Error detected by database DLL". I just interited these issues and would appreciate any advice and some good sources of documentation on the whole topic of ODBC and connecting to databases - especially as it pertains to Remdy. Thank so much for your help.

Hi,
I've had problems in the past with the Pageserver and with "Error detected by database dll" messages. The things you need to check are as follows;

1. Ensure that the ODBC connection you use has the same name on both the machine you write the report on and the machine which CE sits on.
2. The PageServer, Cacheserver, WCS, and Job Server services all use a domain account which has admin privileges over the CE machine. I believe the default setting is to use the Local System Account. Changing this setting to a domain account sorted a lot of problems I had.
3. Attempt to open the report directly on the server. If you can open it and refresh it in the Report Designer on the server it should work in CE.

If this doesn't work you can always try to see if CE will open the report with the saved data. This is not supported by Crystal, but is a useful way to see if the problem you have is with CE or your database connection.

Follow these steps;
1. Open the report, refresh, and save (with data)
2. Publish to CE
3. Go into CMC and go to the properties of the report
4. Notice the filename - this is where the report is stored
5. Goto ?:\Program Files\Enterprise\FileStore\Input6. You will notice the path of your report as seen in CMC
7. Follow through to you find the report
8. Now copy the report with the saved data to this location and rename it to that of the one already there (still with me?)
9. Once you have replaced the file go back to the CMC and try and preview the report

If the report works okay, then you have a problem with your connection to the database.

Hope this helps...
