ODBC error converting from windows 98 to 2000, Left outer join err

I had to upgrade from windows 98 to 2000, reinstall CR 7.0. All the reports that were real basic that had 2 tables joined are getting errors. The tables were joined with an equal join, but when I tried to run the report I got the following error "ODBC error: [SYBASE}{ODBC Sybase driver] The keywords LEFT OUTER JOIN were not found in an outer join escape sequence. I had to edit the SQL and change INNER JOIN to LEFT OUTER JOIN. It runs OK, accept it used to take 30 seconds, now it takes 20 minutes. Any ideas.
