Hi,

I'm new to Crystal but I am baffled why I can't make this work!!

All I need to do is link 2 tables. I have set up a link using the Visual Linking expert from table A to B. But when I attempt to generate a report I receive an ODBC error Column found in multiple tables.

I would be very grateful if someone could explain where I am going wrong.

Thanks

Phil

Hi Chris, I'm no expert in odbc but have been using Crystal for some years now. As you only have a couple of tables I suggest you load them one at a time and then in the smartlinking window browse the data of each field. I suspect that you will find a field ie 'customer number' that reports odbc error column not found. Having found the offending field or fields (there may be more than one) you should be able to link the two tables together but you won't be able to use the offending field in your report.

You haven't said what type of table you are using so I can't suggest methods of fixing them. Hope this helps.
Regards

Jules.

Hi Phil,
I have the same problem, could you solve it in the meanwhile?

I discovered that the ODBC driver I was using didn't support linking in Crystal.

We use a system call Remedy that sits on SQL server, Remedy has its own ODBC, to get around this I used the SQL server ODBC to directly connect to the database rather than going through the Remedy ODBC.

Cheers

Phil
