I received the following error message when I attempt to log onto a web application with a SQL server 6.5 back-end:

MICROSOFT OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '800004005
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL SERVER DRIVER] [SQL SERVER]
Maximum number of databases that may be accessed by a transaction is 8. This number has been exceeded by this query.

This error appears on the SQL server log, but I do not know how to resolve this. Can someone please help me???

This sounds like it may have something to do with your problem. Says the message is misleading: doesn't bear on databases but on the number of interim worktables generated by the query.

Perhaps query redesign (or the article mentions creating some appropriate indexes.

Could this be it?

Hi There

This is a sql bug. The query optimiser/parser is getting confused. Have you got the most recent service pack 5 installed to sql 6.5 ? This should fix it.

Bernadette,

Thank you for so much for responding! I will definitely check out what Service Pack is installed.

Thanks again!
