Using ORacle 9i, CR v10

We had a strange issue when running CR.
Report is based on a view.
When runing that report we get a Remove table message pop up box which says:

"The database table "VW_TEST1" cannot be found.Proceed to remove this table from the report?" YEs/No

When Click No the report still runs and gives the output.
When Click Yes it removed the vw from the report.

I could figure out why that problem was. But I couldn't figure out WHY? Hoping anyone can help me understand.

How does reports run different when the ODBC drivers are different? For ex:
On a machine1 I use Microsoft odbc driver for oracle and on the other machine2 I use ORacle ODBC driver for Oracle.

Strange Scenario:

Created a View.

Called the view in crystal report. On machine1 It runs good no problem

But when the same thing is done on Machine2 we get the

"The database table "VW_TEST1" cannot be found.Proceed to remove this table from the report?" YEs/No

WHY??? Which ODBC driver should I be using?

TIA,
Sweetie

You shouldn't be using ODBC at all, Crystal has a native connection to Oracle which is faster.

Select Oracle Server as the type of database, not ODBC.

As for finding views, it could be a permissioning problem, but you were NEVER supposed to use tyhe Microsoft ODBC for Oracle anyway. In older versions Crystal had it's OWN ODBC for Oracle, can't recall if that changed in CR 10, at any rate, don't use ODBC.

I don't see the CR ODBC driver for Oracle. All I see is CR ODBC for XML. My Product version is 10.05.1406
How do I connect to native Oracle server? This what I tried but it ask for the Crystal CD, Which I don't have it.

Create new report
Create New Connection
More Data Sources
ORacle

ERROR 1706;No valid source could be found for product CR 10 the Windows installer cannot continue.

Is there any arcticle or thread I can read more information. I looked in the business objects but It gives me all different stuff.

Can you explain me understand why we are NEVER suppose to use Microsoft ODBC?

Really Apperciate your help, -K

TIA,
Sweetie

Well if you don't have the software you can't use the software...

I didn't say that you should never use Microsft ODBC, I said that you should never use Microsoft ODBC for Oracle.

Oracle does a better job of it.

As for native connectivity, there is a whitepaper that discusses the connectivity options for Oracle on their site, I don't have time to dig it out now.
