Hi

I am having trouble getting an odbc connection to change from our Oracle9 production database to our oracle 9 ‘test’ database.

I have done this to make the change ….

Production

Data Source Name gts prod

Description gts prod

TNS Service Name dmsproductiondata

User ID myself

In order to fool the .access.mdb while testing some changes I deleted the current odbc on this pc. I then recreated the odbc w/ the same Data Source Name but a different TNS Service Name. Shouldn’t this be enough?

test

Data Source Name gts prod
Description gts prod
TNS Service Name dmstestdata
User ID myself

I still hook back up to the production database thru the odbc.
Isn’t it just really this easy?
The mdb resides on the network. I am using a copy of the original.
We are using a converted to access 2003 mdb and windows xp odbc.

Access hard-codes the database, even when using a DSN - majorly bogus! You'll need to relink the tables - see the tools or database menu.
