Good day all.

I had ODBC connections set up to a few different SQL Server instances which worked fine on this laptop under Windows XP Pro SP3.

I just finished a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro (64bit) and cannot seem to get my connections back. It keeps failing to connect.

I am getting

Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 11001
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen (Connect()).
Connection failed:
SQLState '08001'
SQL Server Error: 6
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]Specified SQL server not found.

I know this has been written by others before, but I'm wondering why it would not work now when it did before. Is there some correlation between this error and windows 7? It still works on XP machines.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Try using the server's ip address instead of the server name. Also you may disable Windows 7 firewall to have a try.
