ODBC Connection

I'm trying to remotely access a Microsoft Access database from a Linux server running PHP and apache. Now, I've heard I need to install ODBC drivers to do this, but I'm having some trouble. I d/led some from OpenLink but how do I install them and use them? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks
