Having trouble configuring an ODBC connection to a remote SQL server on a Micros server with two NICs. I have disabled windows firewall and the connection will still not work. Error is "unable to complete login process due to delay in opening server connection."

Has anyone seen this issue or have any suggestions?

Do you have a static IP? or some dyndns? your remote conection should be configure with these alias, and ports too (1433 eg).

Windows Firewall isn't necessarily the only place you will have firewall issues. Have you opened the proper ports on your router/firewall? Do you have the NAT tables setup correctly (I have no idea what level of device you are using, so have no idea what settings you have to put into place). Please tell us what kind of router you are using (ISP provided vs. your own device?). It could be a configuration error or a networking error, and if its a networking problem it could be at either end...
