i'm running several windows 98 workstations with Access 97 (Office 97) installed with the data stored on the server in SQL Server 7.

keep getting the above error and it seems to happen when the users are all accessing the data at the same time....

Anybody got any idea how to fix this problem???

This may or may not apply to your situation but I have run into some problems with run time errors in my databases that pull data through SQL Servers.

What I have done is change the ODBC Timeout from 60 (default) to 600 in the query properties. That has allowed the query to have time to run without timing out.

Also, Access has settings to refresh automatically that sometimes cause timeout errors. You can't remove them but you can set them to very large numbers to minimize the chance of auto refresh.

Click on Tools and Options and select the Advanced Tab. I recommend setting your timeouts and refresh intervals to about 3000 seconds (which is 50 minutes) to keep it from timing out or refreshing every 5 minutes (which I think is the default).

Hopefully, one of these solutions will be of help to you.
