ODBC - Call failed Error (3146)

Some of the people in our department are getting the 3146 error. This usually happens when they have not been accessing the data for some time, but have the Access 97 appliction open. We are using an Access 97 front end connecting to a SQL Server backend. Any ideas on why this is happening?

it think is because of the connection timeout that caused the error.

3146 is a generic connection failure error code. It could be a timeout, network not avilable, SQL Server down, wrong password... You get the idea.

Does the error message give any additional info? Terry

Hey I am getting the same error. The exact error message is

ODBC Delete on linked table 'logrecs' failed

Any ideas why.???? This is urgent....Thanks a ton

What are u trying to delete? The backend database table or the linked table itself?, or u trying to delete the record in the backend database using linked table?

Hi,

I am trying to delete record/ records in the linked table with a help of a parameter delete query. The query gets its value through a access form.

Then I think you better check with the record that you trying to delete from the table linked with any relations or not, can u show me u delete statement as well? and check the linked table is linked to right table. That all i can say bcoz I never experiance this error on delete action.
