ODBC AND LINKED TABLE MANAGER PROBLEMS

A number of us have Access97 installed running Windows NT. We link tables using Oracle 7.3 ver 2.5. As far as we can tell we all have identical setups with identical aliases to the databases we are linking to etc. When we initially link the table we always tick the 'remember password' box. We have the full "custom" installation version of Access (i.e. install everything). Some of us have to relink the tables every session, and others such as myself do it once and it is remembered for all time.
Those of us who have no problems have the LINKED TABLE MANAGER working properly. For the rest it crashes Access. Re-installing Access makes no difference.
Any help appreciated.
