Hi guys
I have been asked to look after a 300(Serenade), give it a complete shakeout and let the customer know what they have and waht they can do with it. I have no problems with any of that except that it has an ACP card which I believe to be a 'Works' card. There is no 'Works' disk however in slot 1. I know very little about 'Works' and would be grateful for any information.

Jon

Yes, you do need a Works drive in slot B1. You also need the feature bit for Works turned on as well. There are also a few other feature bits that are needed to write and activate applications. VMXWorks is similar to OctelDesigner in that you can write applications to customize the way the voicemail interacts with the callers. You can still download the manuals from the Avaya support site. Let me know if you have any more questions. The company I work for also still develops VMXWorks applications.

Does the card have any other uses if there is no drive? I do not know the full history of this machine and it may have had a drive previously.

Hi Jon

I have participated in a training course at OCTEL in Uxbridge, England many years ago (1996) concerning OCTEL works. I got a nice manual, that I can copy and send to you, if you pay the stamps. It is approx 50 pages about building up the OCTEL Works and visual mailbox.
Use thread thread923-831490 to see more info.

Good to hear from you. I may take you up on that offer as I know very little about works. But do you know if the card has any other uses without the disk? The system also has a fax card, a LAN card, and is running Serenade 2.0.1-2

Jon

Hi Jon

You need the following hardware for OCTEL Works / VMX Works:
ACP card, VMX works I/O panel, VMX works Hard disk and some licenses:
SW-30024,SW-30026,SW-30029,SW-30030 and SW-30033.
You need all items in this package to get OCTEL works to operate. If only some of the items are installed, it will not work at all.

I have everything except the disk. How is the availability of these?

Jon

Hi Jon

Unfortunately our company does not sell VMX/OCTEL/AVAYA products anymore, so I can´t really tell you.
Maybe you should check AVAYA's web for OCTEL works.
I have an ACP card by the way, but not the other items.

doktor

I don't think you can get the drives new from Avaya since VMXWorks is no longer supported by Avaya. The company I work for still supports the product and has spare parts available.

Hi Jon

Let me know if you need more informations as the mentioned training course.
I can also provide you with relevant OCTEL diskettes with s/w S.2.0.2-2 for OCTEL Serenade 200/300, GB/US voice prompts etc.

Best regards doktor

Thanks, I will let you know about the Works Stuff. I have copies of all the software releases and languages already, so if you need any let me know. I also have somewhere the old DOS program (the name escapes me for now) for connecting to the VMX100.

Jon

Jon

The old dos program for the VMX is called CAT (Configuration Application Terminal).
I have all necessary s/w for the VMX-100 including voice prompts etc.
