Hi, I need some help please...

We have a Octel VMX 200 unit, one of the 2 hard drives failed. We have a replacement hard drive (we have a whole other VMX 200 unit for parts) but we can't seem to find any software diskettes...

I know we're on release 7.1.5 - if we follow the documentation we have, we need to boot off a floppy disk to allow us to perform the DISKO command to add the new drive.

Can someone please help us? Does someone out there have an image of these disks or perhaps a spare disk that someone can get to us?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Guy :)

Hi Guyger

I can help you. Also with spareparts.

Third here is the procedure, if you do not have it:
(It is a bit messy, but I can email the pdf.doc.)
Hard Disk Restore
These procedures provide the steps to restore a message server where the
?? Octel 200/300 is configured as a one-disk system and the hard disk needs replacement.
?? Octel 200/300 is configured as a multiple-disk system and both of the system disks need replacement.
When doing the Hard Disk Restore procedures, make sure that the diskettes being used are for the correct
release level.
......
Hard disks may be hot plugged.
Refer to the Hardware Replacement chapter, Hard Disk Drive
Replacement section, for Hard Disk Replacement procedures. Hard disks
may be hot plugged.
Two floppy diskettes are required to boot the Octel 200/300.
Preparation
Replace the Hard Disk
1. Forward ports.
2. Remove the hard disk(s)to be replaced.
3. Install the replacement hard disk(s).
4. Make sure software diskettes #1 and #2 (for the
correct release level) are write- protected.
5. Insert software diskette #1 into the Floppy Drive (FD).
6. Press the Reload button to boot from floppy diskette.
When prompted, insert software diskette #2 into the FD.
The reload button is placed on the CPU board, the lower
red button.

9. Remove the software diskette from the Floppy disk drive

Test Diskettes
10. Insert a diskette into the fl
Each diskette (software diskette for the correct release level, prompt diskette, and the backup configuration diskette) must be tested before completing the remainder of this procedure.
Octel 200/300 prompts: "TEST 01 COMPLETE", if the diskette is OK.
If any diskette fails the test, a replacement must be obtained beforecontinuing with this procedure.

@DSKTST "Enter"
At the @ prompt enter the slot number for the restored drive. The VCU tests the slot and updates its status record.
Repeat DSKTST for each drive to be restored.
