Octel VM Help

I am in the process of migraitng a site from a digital NEC PBX and a Octel VM system to a VoIP solution. I was told that the Octel system was used to create phone trees to simulate a IVR application. The system has 250 VM boxes and I am not sure how I can identify which mailboxes were created and is attached to another VMbox to simulate a IVR (phone Tree) call flow.

Please ask me any quesitons as I have zero knowledge on this system. I can connect to the system through telnet.

Do you have a login and password for the system?

Here is an excerpt from the manual about single digit menus. The single digit menu can be setup at the port or trunk level using the Information table in the COS or at the User level:

With Single Digit Menus, the Octel 200/300 allows callers single-digit access to departments,
groups, extensions, and information.

Single Digit Menus can be configured for ports or trunks and implemented by incorporating the
single-digit selections into the Company Greeting. Mailboxes can be configured with Single Digit
Menus as part of the system application.

Depending on whether time and day control is required, Single Digit menus from a mailbox can be
set up in two ways:

􀀀 In the INFORMATION Table, when time-of-day and day-of-week control is required. A separate
Class of Service (COS) is required for each level of the menu tree that is set up using this
method.

a. For index 4 — MAXIMUM DIGITS FOR MENU. Enter the number of first-digit choices to
offer the caller. For example, if you are offering three choices to the caller in the Single
Digit Menu mailbox greeting, “... press one, ...press two, ... press three,” enter 3 in Index 4.

b. For index 5 — PREFIX DIGITS FOR MENU. When the caller enters a single digit, the
message server constructs the destination mailbox by prefixing the digits entered in index 5
to the single digit entered by the caller. Enter the prefix digits; they can be up to 7 digits
long. The resulting mailbox numbers must be configured in the USER Table.
For example, if Index 5 = 57 and the caller enters 1 , the Octel 200/300 attempts to transfer the caller to
mailbox or extension 571, which must be configured in the USER Table.

􀀀 In the USER Table, when the time-of-day and day-of-week control is not required. This method
of setting up Single Digit Menus does not require a separate COS.

Setting Up Single Digit Menus
When any level of Single Digit Menus requires control by time-of-day and day-of-week
(SCHEDULE Table), an INFORMATION Table with Index 4 — MAXIMUM DIGITS FOR MENU,
and Index 5 — PREFIX DIGITS FOR MENU, must be configured for that level. The Single Digit
Menu for levels that do not require time of day and day of week control can be configured in the
USER Table.
􀀀 Single-digit information in the USER Table of a mailbox takes precedence over a mailbox
INFORMATION Table with Indexes 4 and 5 assigned.


List the USER Table single digit with the command .L USER SD.

Example:

.L USER SD
Enter MAILBOX number.
431
SINGLE DIGIT MENU TABLE
MAILBOX MAX DIGITS PREFIX DIGITS
431 2 44

Modify the USER Table with the command .M USER SD.
a. Enter the mailbox number whose single digit menu is to be changed.
b. Enter the maximum number of single digits for the menu. For example, if you offer three
choices to the caller in the Single Digit Menu mailbox greeting, “Press one......, press
two...., press three,” enter 3 as the maximum number of single digits.
c. Enter the prefix digits for the menu mailboxes.
When the caller enters a single digit, the destination mailbox is constructed by adding the
digits entered as the prefix digits to the single digit entered by the caller. The prefix can be
up to 7 digits long. The resulting mailbox numbers must be configured in the USER Table.
For example, if the prefix digits = 57 and the user enters 1 , the Octel 200/300 attempts to

Chuck than you for the reply. However the coammand to list all single digit mailboxes does not work. Here is a link to the administration manual for this system. If you can please let me know a similar command to list single mailboxes would be greatly appreciated.

 
Figured out that I need to be in the "u" update mode. Now let me see how I can narrow down the mailboxes that has a call tree.
 
If you in "U" mode (update) list all database by "list all", then you shou be able to see the full content of the database.
l user -> lists users
l cos -> lists the COS - class of services
l info -> list information tables
l sch -> lists schedule tables
l slot -> lists the SLOTs i.e. line card to your PBX with extension numbers etc.
l profile -> lists the connection between a cos, a schedule and an info table.

Also post the s/w version here for your system.
Commands are different in the various versions.

After login at the @ prompt write L F -> list features
Also post the L H -> list hardware errors.
