Hello- How do you change the default operator on a Massaging 2000??? I have gone through the doc's on the Avaya site but can't seem to find out how to change it.

It is in System Setup. On page 2 (Operator) tab there are two entries for Default Operator Mailbox Number and After Hours Operator Mailbox Number.
 
Thank you Joe Octel- I will try it- I went to Messaging 2000 class back in '98 but haven't worked on any in years. To get to that option do you have to use a level 2 password?
 
The Level 2 password doesn't allow you to go into System Setup while the Messaging 2000 is running. You can either logon using the Level 3 password (default is 67890) or you will have to shutdown the Messaging 2000 (just the Messaging 2000 not the entire computer) and then go to the Lucent program folder and run the System Setup program from there; or go to a command prompt and from the C: prompt change to the CVR directory and then type in setup.exe and hit enter (C:\cvr\setup.exe).

Thank you so much for the info. I ended up going out there myself because the cust did not feel comfortable doing this himself. I changed the default day oper to 100 (oper console #)and had to create a mailbox for this ext with no switch coverage. Does this sound right to you??

Yes, it sounds right. You could possibly change the Class of Service for this mailbox to one that is not in use and change some of the parameters like Receive Messages to be unchecked or maybe change Max Rings to 0 to do a "blind transfer". Otherwise just listen for feedback from the customer to see if there needs to be some fine tuning.
