octel communities

How do I send a message to a community on an octel system.

IT says to send the meessage to the bullitin mailbox, but when I do it says that this is not a message mailbox. I guess what I need to know is how to get a broadcast message out to numerous subscribers.

How many communitys do you have ? In a community you can setup a bullitin mb for that community but you must be sure that the mailbox is a bullitin MB. Are you trying to target just the users in the one community?

We will have 5 communities. I did acutally get it to work. In the boox it says that it will not provide message notification, is this true or is there a work around for it. Thanks for the info

You can not light the light if you are using a bulletin mailbox as the message is not really in the users mailbox. If you want to light the light you must use a dist list mailbox but that can't be defined VIA the communities.

you could use a application software to turn the lights on but that would run you some $$$

I have a site that I support that is using a Octel 350. End users are reporting that they are receiving garbled messages and I cannot pinpoint where this is coming from. The PBX is a Nortel and they are using old AMIDs for integration. Anyone have any past experience's with this and where I might begin? Thanks

Are you getting any alarms or error messages on the Octel?

Depending on the size of the community, you really don't want message waiting notification anyway. Imagine lighting 100 lamps at once, and then 100 people trying to check messages at once. Got 100 ports on your VM system?
