Can a mailbox on an Octel 50 be configured as a greeting-only box? A customer with a 50 would like to have calls to certain mailbox play the greeting once then disconnect.

I'm not very familiar with the 50 and the Supervisor's guide from the Avaya website was not clear on how to enable this feature.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I don't have an Octel 50 to test this out, but on an Octel 100 you can setup a V-Tree for a mailbox that has all the menu options set as "Disconnect". Then use a Custom Class of Service or an unused Class of Service, where you uncheck Operator Access. Then record the prompt for the V-Tree and change the Subscriber Settings to use the V-Tree.

Calls to this mailbox will hear the V-Tree prompt and if they hold on or try and dial something they will be disconnected. If they press 0 they will be prompted with something like "Zero is not an available selection".

This is just one idea. Without having an Octel 50 to test this out with, you should make sure it will work the way you expect.

joeOctel,

Thank you for the tip. The customer changed their mind and wanted that particular mailbox to be deleted from the system so I was unable to try your proposed solution.

Your response, however, is greatly appreciated!
